Actor Jon Hamm would rather forget his first sexual encounter, because he was "not quite ready" to lose his virginity. The Mad Men star was a 19-year-old college student when he had sex for the very first time, and Hamm admits he wasn't fully comfortable jumping into bed with the lucky woman.
"There's no version of it that's not awkward," he told Elle magazine. "Let's put it this way: As much as I had practiced, I was still not quite ready for game time... Maybe it's easy for some people. It certainly wasn't for me."Jon has since become known as a sex symbol thanks to his role as dapper ad man Don Draper in the hit period drama, but he has been single following his split from his longtime partner Jennifer Westfeldt, who he dated for 18 years until September, 2015.
And it appears the 45-year-old actor, who sought treatment for alcohol abuse last year (15), is not yet ready for another romance.Asked what he would want to tell his next date, he replied, "Oh God. I don't know. I don't think I'm ready to answer that yet."There is one thing Jon has thought about though - the kind of advice he'd offer to his younger self."The best thing you could say is: Appreciate it," he explained. "Struggle is part of the journey. That's what I've learned in my 40s: This too shall pass."
