Applause is in order for John Kani, he will be awarded the Sotigui of Honour at this year’s Sotigui Awards in Burkina Faso for his contribution to the South African creative industry.
John Kani, one of the Eastern Cape’s most famous exports, is unstoppable at a time in his life when most his age are starting to slow down. Just last week he was awarded the Sahmed Katrhada Excellence in Leadership Award for 2018 and you can watch out for him in the much-anticipated remake of Disney’s The Lion King, in which he will voice the character of Rafiki.
Minister of Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa was quick to congratulate John on Twitter. The rest of South Africa no doubt echoes his sentiments.
Congratulations to legendary Actor & Playwright @JohnKani2 , as he travels to Burkina Faso to attend the prestigious ceremony of the Sotigui Awards where he will be awarded the Sotigui of Honour for his tremendous contribution to the African creative industry.
