Residents of the Eastern Cape’s Jeffreys Bay have another reason to smile, as their home was named South Africa’s Town of the Year for 2018, on Monday 18 June.
As JBay News report, the tourist hot spot is now in line for a R1 million windfall tied into a national television advertising campaign.
The easy-going coastal resort – around 75km west of Port Elizabeth – was given the prestigious title by Kwela. They assume the title from Mossel Bay, who won it in 2017. It seems that the southern coast is too damn good to resist!

The announcement comes with impeccable timing, too. The much-loved Jeffreys Bay Winterfest is returning to the town on Monday 2 July until Tuesday 17 July.
It brings together some of the biggest surfing and swimming enthusiasts on the planet. They might be lured in by the sports, but visitors also get to appreciate the beautiful beaches, the friendly locals and the incredibly chilled vibes.
