On Monday, Miss Universe 2017 was crowned in Manila, Philippines. The title went to France’s 24-year-old Iris Mittenaere.
In a Miss Universe interview after the pageant, Mittenaere said, "This sash is not only a sash - this is something to help people, to understand people.”
The dental surgery student plans to campaign for dental and oral care around the world with her Miss Universe title.
Miss Haiti (Raquel Pelissier) was named First runner-up and Miss Colombia (Andrea Tovar) was named Second runner-up.
The top finalists hailed from Kenya, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Panama, Colombia, Phillippines, Canada, Brazil, France, Haiti, Thailand and the U.S.
