Over the weekend South Africa lost not one but two legendary artistes.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, 76-year-old Steve Fataar passed away reportedly in his sleep. He had just played a gig at a well known Durban venue, Zacks. The exact cause of death is not yet known but he had been suffering from lung complications for some years.
While fans and the music industry were mourning his death, news broke Sunday of the tragic passing of guitarist Jethro Butow in a car accident.
An inductee into the South African Rock Hall of Fame, Butow was regarded as one of the most exceptional and talented guitarists in the industry. He has featured on the albums of many a famous SA singer. More recently he was the official guitarist for the Idols band.
Social media tributes have been flooding in for the much loved and highly respected muso. The exact details around the cause of the accident are not yet known.
May you rest in peace Steve Fataar and Jethro Butow.
