The late Hugh Hefner's typewriter, which he used in college was the top-selling item at an auction held in Los Angeles of his possessions.
The Underwood Standard portable typewriter sold for $162,500 ( + R2 million). Other items that were sold included a set of his Playboy magazines, a gold ring with a hidden compartment containing a Viagra pill and his iconic smoking jacket.
The proceeds of the auction will benefit the Hugh M. Hefner Foundation, which defends civil rights and civil liberties.
