HBO warn Trump to ?stand down? over Game of Thrones image use

Donald Trump has angered the makers of Game Of Thrones by using imagery from the show to announce his imposing of sanctions on Iran.

In the image, pictured below, the US president is looking off camera, seemingly as if in step, with the words "Sanctions are coming. November 5" emblazoned across the picture.

Those familiar with Game of Thrones will know that the font is the same as the one used by the show creators and the wording is a play on one of the most famous lines from the hit tv series, "Winter is coming".  In the series, it refers to being in a state of readiness for any impending danger or hardship.

In a public statement, HBO said: "We were not aware of this messaging and would prefer our trademark not be misappropriated for political purposes."

Let the games begin! Over to you Mr President.
