The 2022 Golden Globes ceremony took place behind closed doors with the awards announced online instead of the usual glitzy star-studded red carpet affair.
This follows the much-publicized controversy that has raged over the diversity of its membership after a Los Angeles Times exposé found that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the organization which runs the ceremony, had no black members voting for the awards. There were also allegations of extravagant freebies being dished out to influence voting.
In this year’s watered-down event, with no banter from a host, and no broadcaster, there appeared to be a lukewarm response from the stars.
Power Of The Dog, Spielberg’s West Side Story, and Succession were among the big winners with Will Smith, Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, and Andrew Garfield among the high-profile actors to take home awards.
