The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has released the list of the nominees for next year’s 79th Golden Globe awards after what has been a controversial year for the organizers.
The organization faced criticism last year after it emerged that none of its members were black. The HFPA in an effort to clean up its act has said that there are now people of color involved in the decision-making process and that almost half of its members are women.
West Side Story and Succession are among the big nominees while Denzel Washington, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Will Smith are among those competing for best actor in a drama, and Lady Gaga is up against stalwart Olivia Colman and Kristen Stewart in the women's category.
