The family of the late legendary jazz singer has released details of the memorial service to be held in her honor. Announced via her Instagram page yesterday, the post states that the service will take place today, Friday 17 March, at the Soweto Theatre in Jabulani, from 15:00. Bosman’s death at the age of 50 on Tuesday 14 March sent shockwaves across the country with the family statement reporting that she had died after a “short illness.”
The award-winning singer had a significant impact on the music industry. Born in Gugulethu, Cape Town, in 1968, Bosman's passion for music began at a young age. She started singing in church choirs and school productions before joining the music industry.
Her career took off in the 1990s when she became the lead vocalist for the legendary South African band, Joy. Her unique vocal style and stage presence made her an instant hit with audiences, and she quickly gained a reputation as one of South Africa's most talented vocalists.
In 1995, Bosman released her debut album, 'Tranquility,' which featured a mix of jazz, soul, and traditional South African music. The album was a critical success and earned her several awards, including the South African Music Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance.
