The 51-year-old award-winning soapie actor has been let go from his role in the long-running US series over his decision to refuse the COVID-19 vaccine. Burton has played the role of Jason Morgan in General Hospital since 1991.
An upbeat Burton took to social media to confirm the news saying to his fans that he wanted them to hear it from him.

The show requires that all those actively working on set be vaccinated against COVID-19.
ABC has confirmed that Burton's departure from the show is due to his non-compliance with their vaccine mandate.
Burton ended the clip by saying: "Maybe one day if these mandates are lifted, I can return and finish my career as Jason Morgan. That would be an honour."
