Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke sends fans into a frenzy with DRAMATIC transformation

The actress, who stars as Daenerys Targaryen in hit HBO series, has channelled her inner Khaleesi as she ditched her dark locks in favour of a blonde bob.

She took to Instagram this afternoon to unveil her new hairstyle, which unsurprisingly sent her 13.4 million followers into meltdown.

Emilia can be seen flashing a huge grin and winking at the camera in the head shot, which appears to have been taken half-way through her hair appointment.

The 30-year-old captioned the snap: "AAAAHHHHHHH SHHHHIIIII****** I done did it.

"Mother of dragons meet Emilia. Emilia meet mother of dragons. If you squint just so you might never know.

"All hail to the magnificence of @kevalexanderhair and @candicebanks74 the genius creators of 'KHALEESI WIG' (and not forgetting all the hair on game of thrones for 8 glorious years) for at long last making this magical moment a reality. #khaleesikicksoff #gameofthrones #cominghomeneverfeltsogood."

It comes after it was suggested that her character's romance with Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) could take a much darker turn.

Fans were stunned when the couple, who are related but do not yet know, enjoyed a steamy romp in the season seven finale.

Now it has been hinted that the pair could actually be brother and sister instead of just aunt and nephew.

Viewers will have to wait until the series returns to find out if the latest theory is correct and how the couple handle the news that they are blood relatives.

It remains unknown whether her icy blonde bob has anything to do with the new season but it has already sent fans into a frenzy.

Rushing to comment on the snap, one fan gushed:"Yes! You look gorgeous!' as another added: "@emiliaclarke This is our queen!"

A third continued: "Now you really are the mother of dragons."
