The Makhado family has confirmed that South African rapper, Rikhado Makhado known by his stage name as "Riky Rick" has died.
The 34-year-old's death sent shock waves on Twitter on Wednesday which was followed by an outpouring of condolences from fans and close friends.
The Makhado family says the well-known rapper and father of two passed away in the early hours of Wednesday in Johannesburg.
He also leaves behind his wife, Bianca Naidoo whom he shared romantic videos of the two frequently on social media.
Riky Rick will be forever remembered for his well-documented development of young musical talent.
The family says while it is deeply thankful for the countless messages of love and support received so far, it humbly requests privacy as they go through this difficult period of grieving.
Details of the memorial and funeral will be shared at a later stage.
