Emma Thompson has shared with the media that she withdrew from a project with filmmaker John Lasseter due to his past allegations of inappropriate sexual behaviour. The 59-year-old Dame stated quite clearly that she needs to do what she feels is “right”.
The American animator Lasseter was appointed as head of Skydance Animation after his association with Pixar ended following allegations of misconduct towards staff members.
Emma had been cast to voice a character in the upcoming film Luck but withdrew after hearing that Lasseter had been hired by Skydance.
The Oscar-winning actress wrote a strongly worded letter to the animation company which was subsequently made public by the Los Angeles Times.
The letter is now being circulated via numerous entertainment news sites.
I don't think I am overstating this, but this letter from Emma Thompson on her departure from Luck is one the most significant moments in this movement. pic.twitter.com/RXkr7FXOkL
