Maye Musk has criticized the widely-read American daily newspaper for posting a tweet saying that her son, Elon Musk, was detached from 'apartheid-era atrocities'.
In promoting an article about the Pretoria-born billionaire on social media the Times wrote:” 'Elon Musk grew up in elite white communities in South Africa, detached from apartheid's atrocities and surrounded by anti-Black propaganda”.
The media giant went on to say that as a youngster he did not ‘suffer the effects of misinformation.'
Maye responded on Twitter, saying: 'In South Africa, if you publicly opposed apartheid, you went to jail. In Russia, if you publicly oppose the war, you go to jail. @nytimes, are you going to blame children for decisions made by governments?'
