Comedienne Ellen DeGeneres has put rumblings of an impending divorce to rest by insisting she "can't imagine" life without her wife Portia de Rossi. The Finding Dory star, 58, wed actress Portia, 43, in 2008 after four years of dating, and despite repeatedly dismissing rumours of trouble in the relationship, the couple is forever dogged by speculation of a looming split.
In a new interview with People magazine, Ellen insists their bond is stronger than ever."There's no best part (about being married). It's everything," she gushed. "I can't imagine not being married. I have my best friend, the person I want to spend time with more than anybody else in the world."
The funny woman and talk show host reveals the couple is well aware that many Hollywood marriages end in divorce, so the stars always take a moment to express their gratitude to one another."Portia and I constantly say to each other, 'We are so lucky'," Ellen explained.
"Sometimes it's lying in bed at night before I go to sleep, and I just say thank you to whatever, whoever is out there." "Our priorities are each other too," she added. "If we had kids, then I'm sure they would be, but we are. And that's important."And Ellen claims taking the time to make each other feel special, particularly when they are both busy with work, is another key to their happy marriage.
She continued, "I think the word 'love' is thrown around, like, 'I love you' is great to hear, but you want to feel it. You want to feel that you're understood, and they know exactly who you are, and they know how to take care of you..."I've gotten to a place where I really am just settled. Really. I know that I'm not going anywhere. She's not going anywhere."
