The mother and daughter will be laid to rest in a private ceremony today at the Hollywood Hill’s Forest Lawn Memorial Park, TMZ have reported.
And in a touching tribute to the Star Wars actress, who died on Tuesday 27 December aged 60, Ellen shared a funny montage of her most memorable appearances on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The host introduced the clip by saying: “I wanna say something about my friend, Carrie Fisher.
"I knew her for a long time. She has been on the show many times, and the last time was just a month ago. And I loved when she was here. She made me laugh so hard. She was smart, she was funny, she was hilariously honest about herself and the world around her."
The clip then showed some hilarious moments of Carrie including the time when the pair took to the streets of Los Angeles wearing Princess Leia wigs and held cards promoting Star Wars tickets.
A very moving part of the montage highlighted the close relationship that Carrie had with her mother Debbie, who died just one day after her daughter at the age of 84.
When Ellen, 58, brought up her mother, Carrie said: “I live next door to my mother so that’s a reality show."
“Do you really? Did she move in there?” replied the host.
“I think that’s her. If that’s not her, I will be so pissed off,” Carrie joked.
Ellen ended the clip by saying: “I miss you Carrie, I love ya.”
It was reported yesterday that Carrie had already been cremated but some of her ashes will be placed in Debbie’s coffin when she is buried.
A public memorial is believed to be taking place another time where Meryl Streep is said to be leading tributes alongside Tom Hanks and Carrie’s ex-husband Paul Simon who will be among the invites.
