She is a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood, having found her fame through the hit TV series The Handmaid’s Tale and Mad Men. With 2 Emmys and 2 Golden Globes already under her belt, the 37-year-old star is now having to face the scrutiny of the media as part and parcel of being famous in Hollywood.
It all started a year ago when the tabloid magazine OK USA picked up on rumours that had been circulating about a possible romance between herself and Cruise. They decided to run with it as one of their lead stories and published an article saying that her romance to Tom Cruise was “on.” It was also emblazoned across the cover of the tabloid.
The rumour would seem to stem from the fact that they are both Scientologists, it has been alleged that leaders in the Church of Scientology wanted to see 57-year-old Cruise and Moss get hitched so that they could become a Scientology power couple.
While Moss had not responded in any way to the rumours, she eventually put the matter to rest when she sat down to chat to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live. It was during the interactive show that a caller dialled in to ask about the ‘engagement. Elizabeth replied tongue in cheek that the entire ‘engagement ordeal’ was over before it even happened. She also told host Andy Cohen, 'And then I saw it on the cover of one of the gossip magazines, and I was like, "I’ve never had that haircut. Like, it was supposed to be a picture of the two of us and I was like, I’ve never styled my hair like that."
Moss has been criticized in the past for appearing in the series The Handmaid’s Tale, fans took to social media in 2017 to question her for belonging to an organization that has faced numerous allegations of subjecting its members to the kind of thought control and repression that was depicted in the series.
In response, Moss said, “Religious freedom and tolerance and understanding the truth and equal rights for every race, religion and creed are extremely important to me. The most important things to me probably.”
Watch out for Moss in her latest movie Invisible Man, a science fiction horror film written and directed by Leigh Whannell.
