Cosmopolitan: After months of brushing aside speculation, Nina Dobrev finally admitted she's returning to reprise her role as Elena Gilbert in the series finale of The Vampire Diaries.
There's pretty much zero info about the finale episode but now that the news is official, the cast and crew are free to share behind-the-scenes pics. And the first photo out the gate does not disappoint.
Series co-creator and screenwriter Kevin Williamson posted a picture on Instagram with Nina and Paul Wesley, and it'll give you all types of throwback feels. Not only do they all look overjoyed to be working together again, but Nina and Paul are decked out in some seriously fancy black and white outfits. Here's hoping their wardrobe is for a wedding (not a funeral).
Also, look at the way Paul's thumb is gently resting on Nina's hand. What is that fluttering in my heart? Oh, just my ancient Stelena feels being reawakened from a deep slumber.
Now there just needs to be a Delena reunion pic and to fast forward through time to series finale night. Is that too much to ask?
