East London’s Buyel’ekhaya Festival still on the cards

Master KG will be making an appearance


The spirit of the Buyel’Ekhaya Festival is not confined by space nor time. If anything, 2020 has been a solemn reminder of the importance of Ubuntu and belonging. The festival as such remains a potent reminder that we need to know where we've come from in order to know where we're going. This December, Buyel’ekhaya will take the people back home from the comfort of their couches when it screens on Mzansi Magic Channel 161 on DSTV on 26 December 2020 at 21:30.

The festival this year will feature the greatest musical line-up, diverse in genre and with an electric mix of artists and fashion. Its “Lights, camera, action” as Buyel’Ekhaya embraces a new future on television screens across Mzansi. The show promises to be a world-class production with nothing but "edge of seat' viewing for audiences. The festival will feature Mafikizolo, Ringo, Vusi Nova, Sun el Musician, Master KG, Prince Kaybee, DJ Maphorisa & Kabza de Small, Ami Faku  

ShaSha and Simmy throughout the 2-hour broadcast. Somizi, Mihlali and Moshe Ndiki take the reigns as the hosts of the 2-hour broadcast. They are sure to bring a tantalizing sizzle to the show.

Asked about the excitement leading up the festival, Buyel’Ekhaya founder Hlubi Mazwai had this to say “We’re going back to ingoma, from eKomga to KwaNongoma, every lounge eMzansi will be taken on a journey celebrating the amalgamation of our beautiful past with an exciting digital future”. 

She also said of the 12-year-old festival “Given our commitment to our loved and loyal fans and the tens of thousands of people who journey to East London each year from all corners of our beautiful country for the festival, we have evolved to ensure that our brand gives our loyal fans an experience worth remembering”.

Mazwai continued "This mystical, future-first virtual festival will be broadcast on Mzansi Magic Channel 161 on DSTV on 26 December 2020 at 21:30.
