Drake is the top streamed artist on Spotify for 2016. He has been streamed a total of 4.7 billion times. Half of these streams were for his album 'Veiws', and 960 million of those streams were for the hit single 'One Dance'. If 'One Dance is played consecutively for 960 million streams, it would take 5,200 years to complete.
Drake takes the number 1 spot despite the fact that Spotify had to wait a total of two week before they could stream the 'Views' album, because of the deal Drake had with Apple Music.
The popularity of 'One Dance' on streaming services - including Deezer and Google Play as well as Spotify and Apple - helped it spend 15 weeks on top of the official UK singles chart, the longest run since Bryan Adams Everything I Do (I Do It For You) in 1991.
The many streams have earned Drake and his co-writers $4.8 million in royalties.
Rihanna was named the top female artist on Spotify for 2016 and Zayn the top break out artist for 2016.
