The 76-year-old self-confessed lover of “big hair, make-up, and music” has, despite her wishes, been inducted into the prestigious Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
According to various sources, the country music icon had said in March that while she was "extremely flattered" to be nominated, she felt she had not "earned the right" to be recognized as a rock artist.
However, her protestations were too late because the ballots had already gone out. Dolly will be inducted in November alongside Eminem, Carly Simon, Eurythmics, and Duran Duran.
Taking to social media Dolly said, “I am honored and humbled by the fact that I have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Of course I will accept it gracefully. Thanks to everyone that voted for me and to everyone at the@rockhall . I will continue to work hard and try to live up to the honor.
