Defendants in College admissions scam to plead guilty

Thirteen parents charged in the college admissions scandal will plead guilty to using bribery and other forms of fraud to facilitate their children’s admission to selective colleges and universities. One coach also agreed to plead guilty.

The defendants were arrested last month and charged with conspiring with William “Rick” Singer, 58, of Newport Beach, Calif., and others, to use bribery and other forms of fraud to secure the admission of students to colleges and universities.

Hollywood actress, Felicity Huffman is amongst the parents charged and has also pleaded guilty to all charges. Huffman apologised saying "I am ashamed of the pain I have caused my daughter, my family, my friends, my colleagues and the educational community."

Another television actress, Lori Loughlin, known for her role on "Full House," has also been charged in the case but did not enter a plea on Monday.

The accused could face a maximum of 20 years in prison for conspiracy to commit mail fraud but is not expected to receive such a stiff sentence.
