Bowie?s wife, Iman, gave the singers godchild permission to take a portion of his ashes to Burning Man, an annual gathering in the Nevada desert, over Labour Weekend. The two had a special connection to the often-spiritual event. A source told E! News! that "David's godchild and David had long talks about Burning Man and what it stands for, and David loved the message behind it". Most of the 70-person ceremony, had David Bowie?s lighting face painted on in his honour.
The performer, who passed away in January of this year, after battling 18 months with cancer, was honoured with a small ceremony at the Temple, a massive structure erected for Burning Man attendees to memorialise their loved ones.
Just a few days ago, Iman made her first public appearance since David?s death at New York Fashion Week. The supermodel paid tribute to her partner of over 20 years with a silver necklace spelling "David." She said she has no plans to take it off!
