The award-winning actress, Dame Dianna Rigg has died at the age of 82 six months after being diagnosed with cancer. The British star of stage and screen died surrounded by her family.
Best known for her role as secret agent Emma Peel in The Avengers back in the ’60s, and most recently for playing Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones, Rigg had a career that spanned decades.
In an early role, she famously played James Bond's wife, Tracy, in the 1969 film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, the only Bond movie in which the fictional superstar made it to the altar.
Rigg was made a CBE in 1988 and a Dame in 1994 for services to drama. She had a prolific career on stage and is regarded as one of the greatest English actors of the 20th century, but legions of younger fans will remember her for her interpretation of Olenna Tyrell in the hugely successful series Game of Thrones.
Many of the cast members, including Peter Dinklage and 'Jon Snow'(Kit Harington), have taken to social media to pay tribute and express their admiration for the actress.
