Something to make you smile – a rescue kitten captured mid-air as it prepared to pounce on its unsuspecting sibling has been announced as the prestigious overall winner of the Comedy Pet Photography Awards for 2023.
The picture of black and white felines Max and Alex was snapped by professional wildlife photographer Michel Zoghzoghi.
The People’s Choice Award went to Chris Porsz for his capture of a dog leaping in front of surprised onlookers in a New York park – this award is voted for by the public.
The picture (see below) is aptly titled Barking. Porsz is an amateur street photographer from the UK.

The competition was created by professional photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam.
