The 'Top Gun' and 'Die Hard' star has passed away at age 66 after suffering from a long illness.
According to various sources, his death was confirmed in a statement by the UNLV College of Fine Arts where he was a Professor of Stage & Screen Acting.

Gilyard earned his BA in theater arts from California State University, Dominguez Hills and his MFA from Southern Methodist University. He was best known for his roles in #Matlock, #WalkerTexasRanger and his supporting performance in #DieHard. He made his film debut as Sundown opposite Tom Cruise in the 1986 iconic film Top Gun'.
