Chaka Khan named grand marshal of 2019 Rose Parade

Chaka Khan has been named grand marshal of the 2019 Tournament of Roses Parade, under the theme 'The Melody of Life'.

The Rose Parade is an iconic tradition that takes place on New Year's Day in Pasadena, California.  

Tournament of Roses President Gerald Freeny announced on Wednesday that Khan will participate in the celebration.

The Grammy-winning singer said she was honoured for being named grand marshal.
