Shot from Alec Baldwin’s ‘prop gun’ during filming of the movie Rust, the bullet suspected to have killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchens has been recovered.
Hutchins was killed last week after being accidentally shot by Baldwin on the set of a Western being shot on a popular movie site in New Mexico. Director Joel Souza, now recovering in hospital, was also shot.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Santa Fe county sheriff Adan Mendoza and Santa Fe district attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies informed the media that a “lead projectile” had been recovered from the director’s shoulder. Souza was standing behind Hutchens at the time of the accidental shooting.
According to various sources, including Sky News, the projectile is suspected to be a live round, but will still need to undergo further inspection. There is still no news on whether or not criminal charges will be filed against anyone and the investigation into whether or not there was negligence on set is also ongoing,
Baldwin, an actor from one of the most famous acting dynasties in Hollywood, has said that he is heartbroken by the incident and is fully cooperating with the investigation.
According to various sources two people handled the revolver before it was given to Baldwin.
