Britney Spears has apologized to fans for not being honest about her feelings over her controversial conservatorship which she likened in her testimony to “sex trafficking”.
In a lengthy post on Instagram, the 39-year-old singer stated that the reason she pretended that everything was ok was because she was “embarrassed to share what happened to me".
It is the first statement she has made since giving testimony to a packed courtroom Wednesday in a bid to end the "abusive" conservatorship that she said controlled her life and career. She called on the judge to end the conservatorship without the need for further medical assessment and criticized her father, Jamie, who has been in control of life for the past 13 years.
Meanwhile, Jamie Spears and his lawyers still maintain that his daughter and her fortune, remain vulnerable to fraud and manipulation.
Spears went on to say in the post that other people have exploited her throughout her life and that it is her "wish and dream for all of this to end".
The singer’s lawyer must now submit a petition to the court formally requesting the termination of the conservatorship before any further steps can be taken.
