Brad Pitt claims he has given his ex-wife $1.3m (£1m) since they split up two years ago, and lent her another $8m (£6.2m).
Angelina Jolie filed court papers this week suggesting her former husband had paid "no meaningful child support", as their custody battle continues.
In response, Pitt claims he gave her $1.3m (£1m) and says he lent her much more, bringing the total to $9m (£7.2m).
Papers filed by Jolie's lawyers on Tuesday said the Maleficent star wished to have their divorce settled by the end of the year.
Previously the couple said they would finalise all issues, including custody, before the divorce was completed.
But Jolie now seems keen to resolve those after dissolving the marriage, which Pitt's lawyers say he suggested first.
They also claim Jolie is attempting to manipulate media coverage.
She is fighting for sole custody of their children while Pitt, 53, wants joint custody.
The couple share adopted sons Maddox and Pax, adopted daughter Zahara and three biological children, Shiloh Nouvel and twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, aged between eight and 15.
They split two years ago after 10 years together.
