The Harley Quinn spinoff, Birds of Prey has received a release date, but fans have to wait until February 2020.
The official release date was announced by Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment.
Margot Robbie who played Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad will reprise the role of Harley Quinn in Bird's of Prey.
This film will only be the third DC universe film to be directed by a female filmmaker. Cathy Yan who is best known for writing and directing her debut feature 'Dead Pigs' will direct Bird's of Prey . This makes her the third female director of a DC Universe film and the first Asian female to direct a DC Universe film.
The idea of the film was first pitched in 2015 by Margot, "I pitched the idea of an R-rated girl gang film including Harley, because I was like, 'Harley needs friends.' Harley loves interacting with people, so don't ever make her do a standalone film.
"She's got to be with other people, it should be a girl gang. I wasn't seeing enough girl gangs on screen, especially in the action space. So that was always a big part of it."
It is said that the gang will consist of Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain, and Renee Montoya.
