Bill Withers, the writer and singer of popular songs like "Ain't No Sunshine" and "Lean On Me" has died at the age of 81.
In a statement released by the family, Withers died due to a heart complication.
Withers' is a three time Grammy Award winning artist.
He may have pulled away from the public in the eighties, but his music continues to inspire fans and artists alike.
Many artists including Blackstreet, Will Smith, The Black Eyed Peas and Twista have sampled his music.
Box office classics such as '28 Days', 'Jerry Maguire', 'Flight' and more recently 'The Secret life of Pets' have used his music to evoke the emotion a scene demanded.
Withers' is survived by his wife, Marcia and his children, Todd and Kori.
