Bieber’s SA tour threatened by Pro-Palestine activists

Justin Bieber

International superstar Justin Bieber is facing a mounting backlash that threatens to derail his trip to SA should he not cancel his Israeli tour dates.

A recent press statement reports that Africa4Palestine activists have purchased a sizeable number of tickets and promise to disrupt his  “Justice World Tour” concerts taking place in Cape Town on 28 September 2022 at the DHL Stadium, and in Johannesburg on 1 October 2022 at the FNB Stadium.

The activists #Africa4Palestine, certain Canadian organizations, and Palestinian civil society, as well as progressive Jewish Israelis, are appealing to him to respect the boycott of Apartheid Israel and cancel his 13 October 2022 concert in the city of Tel Aviv.

Since the launch of the cultural boycott of Israel in 2005, thousands of artists across the world have cancelled their Israeli gigs and refused to perform there.

The #Africa4Palestine activists in South Africa have stated that they will cause mayhem at the concerts should Bieber ignore their appeals.

This recent outcry comes on the back of Justin being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that has caused him to have partial facial paralysis of the right side of his face. He took to social media last week to share the news with his followers.

The diagnosis has meant that his New York concert has been postponed, but no word was given on his South African tour dates.

On Tuesday 14 June, his Instagram post read, "Wanted to share a little bit of how I've been feelin'.

"Each day has gotten better and through all of the discomfort, I have found comfort in the one who designed me and knows me.

"I'm reminded he knows all of me.

"He knows the darkest parts of me that I want no one to know about, and he constantly welcomes me into His loving arms".
