Media celebrity Basetsana Kumalo has released an official statement following the passing of sentence on author Jackie Phamotse after a lengthy court battle.
Phamotse, the author of 'Bare' , was found guilty last year of defaming the power couple over a tweet alleging that Romeo, Kumalo’s husband, had had a sexual encounter with another man.
Phamotse was sentenced to two years house arrest and fined R12,000 for count three or four months imprisonment and on count four R18,000 or six months imprisonment.
Magistrate Saras Naidoo handed down the sentence on March 26 in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.
