Acclaimed South African author Kopano Matlwa's award-winning debut novel, Coconut, is being adapted for the big screen.
For those of you who don’t do the reading thing, let’s fill you in. As the title suggests, the book is all about two young women who struggle with their identities after growing up in white suburbs. It became a best seller back in 2007 and went on to win the European Union Literary Award in the same year. In 2010 Kopana was the joint winner of the Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature in Africa.
Congratulations Kopano Matlwa, we have no doubt it will be a box office hit.
