Amsterdam has made history by becoming the first capital city in the European Union to endorse a global Plant-Based Treaty.
The treaty aims to mitigate the environmental impact of the current food system on climate change and marks a significant move towards a more sustainable and compassionate future.
According to One Green Planet, the City of Amsterdam Council “recognizes the profound influence of the food system on both human and animal health, as well as its contribution to the pressing climate crisis. In response, the council has unveiled ambitious plans to transition the city towards a plant-based diet, aiming to increase the proportion of plant-based protein consumption from 40 to 60 percent by the year 2030”.
