Actress Melissa Barrera has issued a statement after being fired from the upcoming new Scream movie for reportedly sharing social media posts that criticized Israel in its war against Hamas in Gaza.
The production company heading up the movie told Variety Magazine that the Mexican star had been asked to step down from the production due to posts on social media that had been deemed to be “anti-semetic’ in nature.
Their spokesperson told Variety: "Spyglass' stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion, or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech."
Barrera has since taken to X to release a statement :
