It was a day like no other for Rose, a four-year-old black cat that survived an 8 km trip under the bonnet of a Vauxhall Astra in the UK.
David King discovered the ‘terrified” cat trapped under the bonnet of his car when he stopped to do an oil check after dropping his grandson off at school in Kent. He promptly called in Uk charity Cats Protection to assist in rescuing the feline later reunited with her owner, Mr. King's neighbor Allison Webster. Fortunately, Ms Webster had had Rose microchipped. Ms Webster said she had thought Rose was sleeping in her son's bedroom.
The non-profit took to Instagram to share the story and impress upon pet owners the importance of microchipping writing: " Having just completed a five-mile round trip, David in Kent checked his car oil and was shocked to find a terrified cat, Rose, under the bonnet! ???? Kim, from Cats Protection Swale, came to help and had to get underneath the car to free her safely. Thankfully Rose had a microchip and although the contact number wasn't correct, luckily the address was, so Rose could be returned to her relieved owner.
