President Jacob Zuma will lead a delegation from the ANC's national executive committee to meet the family of Nelson Mandela on Friday afternoon.
The party has postponed its NEC meeting scheduled for today and tomorrow as well as its list conference planned for Sunday, following Madiba's passing on Thursday night.
A new date for the meetings will be announced in due course.
Meanwhile, a long time companion and friend of former president Nelson Mandela, Ahmad Kathrada says he was most shocked to see the former stateman when he was ill in hospital.
Kathrada, who knew Madiba for 67 years, says Madiba was a shadow of himself.
He recalled that as a boxer in his younger days, Madiba was a strong man who exercised regularly.
Kathrada says all the emotion that he felt was seeing Madiba then.
