President Jacob Zuma has extended condolences to the family of boxing legend Jacob “Baby Jake” Matlala.
Baby Jake died at the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg on Saturday, after a lung problem.
He was four times a world champion in the flyweight section.
His professional career began in Port Elizabeth in February 1980 and, by the time he retired in March 2002, his record stood at more than 50 victories.
