President Jacob Zuma has sent his condolences to the families of the 8 South Africans killed in a suicide bomb attack in the Afghan Capital, Kabul.
Zuma says he was deeply saddened by the deaths of the South Africans, as well as the other lives that were lost during this tragic incident.
He said South Africa remains committed to providing support to families of the South African victims.
They all worked for a private aviation company and included pilots and engineers. Two of them had strong links to the Eastern Cape but no names have been officially released at this stage.
They were among 12 people killed when a female suicide bomber detonated an explosives laden car near their minibus which was on its way to Kabul airport.
It was the deadliest single attack claimed to be in revenge for an anti-Islam film that has sparked a week of bloody protests across the Muslim world.
