President Jacob Zuma says he did not instruct Chief of State Protocol, Ambassador Bruce Koloane, to make arrangements for thee Gupta family to land their wedding guests at the Waterkloof Air Force Base earlier this year
In written replies to questions posed by opposition parties in parliament Zuma refuted claims by Koloane that he had been acting on instruction from the president.
Correspondent Troye Lunde says "while Koloane has been demoted to a provincial liaison officer and has had his salary docked for two months, Luitenant-Colonel Christine Anderson who is second in command at the air force base has implicated Zuma under oath saying he gave the instructions."
"Zuma hasn't been summonsed as part of the military probe which is why opposition parties are trying to get more detail out of him."
"They are particularly interested in a meeting between Koloane and the President when Zuma allegedly inquired if all was on track for the flight. But Zuma's one line answer to parliament gives nothing away and simply states that there was no such conversation."
