Another spanner has been thrown in the works in the protracted controversial multibillion-rand arms deal, which was concluded in the late 1990s.
This is as the matter was postponed yet again on Monday in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
This is as President Jacob Zuma, who is an accused in the matter, brought a new 72-page application to have State Advocate, Billy Downer, recused from the case.
The case was last in court in January, when Judge Piet Koen, who had been presiding over it, recused himself, handing over the reins to Judge Nkosinathi Chili.
Zuma's application is set to be based on the private prosecution against Downer over allegations that he leaked confidential medical information to the media.
Judge Chili has ordered that the new application be heard from 15 to 16 August 2023, while the dates for the actual trial will be announced in due course.
