President Jacob Zuma says the 25th ANC Youth League national elective conference has silenced critics who believed that it would never be a success.
He told delegates in Johannesburg on Saturday that the congress was a historic landmark in the history of the ANC and South Africa.
Zuma said the country needed a radical, militant, and robust ANC Youth League, which operated within the general organisational discipline of the party, to participate in taking the country forward to the national democratic society it envisaged.
The conference elected North West chairperson, Collen Maine unopposed as Youth League president.
The League's Mpumalanga chairperson, Desmond Moela was elected deputy president and KZN's Njabulo Nzuza was elected secretary-general.
