Former DA leader, Helen Zille has won the race to be the DA's new federal council chairperson, completing a dramatic comeback within the country's biggest opposition party.
This was confirmed by DA-MP, Solly Malatsi on Twitter on Sunday afternoon.
Zille secured the position to replace James Selfe after 155 party delegates voted for their preferred candidate at a federal council meeting at DA headquarters in Bruma, Johannesburg on Sunday morning.
Zille beat DA federal chairperson Athol Trollip, and senior party members Mike Waters and Thomas Walters for the position.
