A Gauteng man has drowned after his heavy machinery fell into a river at a construction site in Vaalpark near Gauteng.
ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, says paramedics arrived on the scene and were lead to the nearby river banks just after 6 pm on Thursday.
It was discovered that the deceased had been operating heavy machinery when it slid into the river.
Meiring says his colleagues attempted to rescue him but were unsuccessful.
He says once the man's body was discovered and brought to the banks, medics assessed him and found no signs of life.
He was declared dead on the scene.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
