A 31-year-old woman was shot in the chest during a farm attack in North West this week.
Police spokesperson, Adèle Myburgh, the woman had been confronted by an unknown number of intruders on Tuesday night.
She said the woman was wounded in the chest and later rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Myburgh said her mother woke up when she heard shots being fired and when she looked out the window and saw the suspects at her daughter's side of the house.
She said the mother released their dogs and the suspects fled.
Myburgh said the daughter was rushed to a hospital where she is said to be in a serious, but stable condition.
Rustenburg police are investigating a case of attempted murder and no arrests have yet been made.
