A woman believed to be in her late 20's has died from a gunshot wound during an alleged jewellery store robbery in Benoni.
ER24 said the owner of the store suffered moderate injuries during Sunday's drama.
Spokesperson Ross Campbell says paramedics arrived on the scene at a strip mall shortly after 11 am to find the woman in the doorway of the shop having suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach area.
"She, unfortunately, showed no signs of life and was declared dead," he said.
Campbell said the owner of the store, a woman in her 30's, was initially thought to have been shot.
However, he said the store owner only suffered cuts to her hands from broken glass.
He said police are investigating the incident.
