A woman was killed and two other people injured during a hijacking attempt in KwaDukuza (formerly Stanger) on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast on Thursday.
“We confirm incident, a woman was fatally shot and another person sustained injuries. At this stage there are no further details as the members are still busy at the scene,” police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane said.
IPSS spokesman Pal Herbst said that the woman was believed to be the driver of the car.
He said one person was shot in the head and taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Herbst said that a second person – a bystander – was later found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
